Spider-Man is a 2000 action/adventure video game that was developed by Neversoft and published by Activision for the PlayStation. The game was later ported to the Game Boy Color and Nintendo 64. 1 Plot 2 Alternative costumes 3 Cast 4 Other characters 5 Character gallery 6 Location gallery 7. In 2002, a major motion picture based on the classic comic book co-created by Stan Lee was released. This conversion of the movie to the video game world is loosely based on the storyline and characters of the movie. The Green Goblin is the main villain here, and as Peter Parker the player must defy.
Spider-Man: The Movie allows fans to play as Spider-Man in several highly detailed 3-D environments inspired by the Columbia Pictures/Marvel Entertainment live-action feature film (due for release in May of 2002). This full-roaming action-adventure game allows players to jump into the suit of a fledgling Marvel superhero and learn how to battle.
Spider-Man is a video game based on the 2002 Sam Raimi movie of the same name starring Tobey Maguire as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

Kraven Leftovers
The Xbox release of the game had two exclusive levels where Spider-Man was hunting down Kraven within a zoo. While these levels were removed from the other ports, a few pieces from these levels still exist in the GameCube release. A GCT file for Kraven's Rifle is still within the game's code (listed as kravenrifle.gct) and the hints within the load screens for the two Kraven levels are still present listed under zoo_b.txt for 'Kraven's Test' and zoo_c.txt for 'The Mighty Hunter'. Interestingly, both of these txt files are quite long and contain three lines of hints. The Xbox release only randomly chooses one of these hints for both levels.
Strangely, 'Just' within the 'Don't just charge ahead! Kraven has placed traps everywhere!' hint is misspelled as 'j ust' in the Xbox release, despite being spelled correctly within the GameCube release.
Unused Languages
The NTSC releases of the game only has English as an available language, but four other languages are in the game's files: French, German, Spanish, and most interestingly of all Pig Latin.
All changing the language does is that the 'PRESS START' text on the tile screen is translated (Except in Spanish, where it stays in English) and the 'Please Wait' text within the loading screens is displayed as '$Please Wait' with a dollar sign added to the loading text. The rest of the game remains entirely in English, meaning that these translations were not finished by the game's original release or the languages weren't fully added to the disc as they weren't needed. Official French, German and Spanish translations were made for the PAL releases, which were fully translated and dubbed, although no Pig Latin translation was released. The game was fully translated and dubbed in Japanese for the Japanese release, but there is no Japanese language within the international version's files showing that they had not began localizing the game for Japan until Capcom picked up the publishing rights for Japan after the game was already out worldwide. The PAL versions only contain one language in the files (the language being dependent on which country the game is from such as English being the only language in the UK release).
Miscellaneous Text
Legal Information
The txt files for the game's legal information and credits are in the game's files. However, changing them does not affect the game as the legal screen is just a video and the credits are an animated sequence. Changing the txt files only affects the load screen hints and the hints in-game.
Chardes.txt
Another strange text file is chardes.txt. It consists of Spider-Man explaining his life talking about all the people in his life including Kraven. This may have been used for an unused cutscene although the true purpose of this is unknown. Based on the name (possibly a shortening of 'Character descriptions') and the text from within, it is also possible that the text was to appear on a planned but scrapped character database of sorts.
Development Text
sm_paths.txt
Sm_paths.txt links all of the paths for the file types:
game.ini
Game.ini includes the game's strings and flags.
Developer Comments
Many of the game's scripts have some rather amusing comments left by the developers. While the scripts themselves do not have filenames stored, the names of the level archives they were found in has been provided.

Revisional Differences
On original copies of the game, the cheat 'GIRLNEXTDOOR' allows the player to play as Mary Jane Watson, but in re-releases of the game (Platinum Hits, Player's Choice, and Greatest Hits for Xbox, Gamecube, and PlayStation 2, respectively) the cheat was removed from the game since it allowed the player as Mary Jane Watson to kiss Mary Jane Watson.
