OneDrive comes installed with Windows 10 and is enabled by default if you sign on with a Microsoft account. If you don’t use OneDrive, however, and don’t want it running in the background. -->The OneDrive sync app (OneDrive.exe) allows users to contact Microsoft directly from within the app. Users can:
- Create a support ticket by selecting Get help and then selecting the Contact support link in the help pane.
- Send positive or negative feedback directly to Microsoft by selecting Send feedback.
As a global or SharePoint admin in Microsoft 365, you might want to disable these support features to prevent people in your organization from contacting Microsoft directly.
If you disable these features, users can still select Get help to view help articles, but the Contact support link will no longer appear. The Send feedback command will be replaced with a Feedback command that opens the OneDrive UserVoice page in a web browser so users can view and provide feature suggestions.

If you disable 'Contact support' and 'Send feedback' but allow users to sync personal accounts, they can still contact support and send feedback directly to Microsoft from the OneDrive sync app when they're signed in with their personal account.

To disable these features in Windows, you can:
- Use the Set-SPOTenantSyncClientRestriction in Microsoft PowerShell
- Edit the registry

Follow these steps to disable the features on a PC by editing the registry.

Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.
In Registry Editor, locate the following subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOneDrive
Right-click OneDrive, select New, and then select DWORD (32-bit) Value.
Enter DisableReportProblemDialog for the name.
Right-click the new registry key, enter 1 for Value data, and then select OK.
Disable 'Contact support' and 'Send feedback' on Mac
To disable the features in the OneDrive sync app for Mac, add a preference to defaults.
For the standalone Mac sync app:defaults write com.microsoft.OneDrive DisableReportProblemDialog 1
For the Mac sync app installed through the Mac App Store:
defaults write com.microsoft.OneDrive-mac DisableReportProblemDialog 1

OneDrive is an essential part of Microsoft's Office suite, but there are a lot of reasons why you might want to disable the cloud storage service on your PC – not the least of which is that keeping your files in sync with OneDrive can slow down your computer.
Depending on why you want to disable OneDrive, you may want to disable the service temporarily or remove it permanently.
How to temporarily pause OneDrive on a PC
You can disable OneDrive for a period of time, which can be handy if you're not on Wi-Fi and have to pay for your internet access, or if you suspect OneDrive is slowing down your PC and you need to speed it up temporarily.
1. Click the OneDrive icon in the notification area of the taskbar in the lower right corner of your PC desktop.
2. In the OneDrive window, click 'Help & Settings.'
3. In the menu, click 'Pause Syncing' and then choose 2, 8, or 24 hours.

OneDrive will be disabled for that time and start working again normally afterwards. You can re-enable OneDrive sooner by returning to 'Help & Settings' and choosing 'Resume Syncing.'
How to permanently disable OneDrive on a PC by unlinking it
If you unlink your computer from OneDrive, any other devices linked to OneDrive will continue to sync normally, and no files will be deleted from your PC or OneDrive. But it will disable OneDrive on this PC so files are no longer kept in sync.

After unlinking OneDrive, you can keep OneDrive installed on your PC in case you want to re-enable it later, or you can delete the app from the computer.
1. In the Start search box, type 'remove' and then select 'Add or remove programs' when it appears in the search results.
2. Scroll down to find 'Microsoft OneDrive' and click it.
3. Click 'Uninstall.'
